A little info about the 2005 Parade
As you make
plans to visit Hershey for the 2005 Porsche Parade from 25 June - 2 July 2005,
the first weekend promises innovations and excitement for both Parade
registrants and day trippers. On Saturday 25 June, the first ever National
Literature and Parts Swap Meet will be held on the expansive parking lots behind
the Hershey Amusement Park outdoor stadium.
Brought to you by Central Penn Region, the same folks who do Hershey in the
spring, this will be a reprise of that swap meet with a national flavor for
vendors and buyers alike. East Coasters know Hershey in April is huge.
A National Swap Meet at the Parade on this day will be a great opportunity for
Porsche lovers across the country to experience the great automobile
traditions of Hershey and Carlisle-only with a Porsche flavor! For details
on the swap meet, contact Steve Baun at sbturbo@aol.com
911T Owners
On Sunday, the 2005 Parade invites all Registers/Special Interest Groups and
Porsche owners who may not be members of PCA (whom we hope to sign up this day) to attend the Parade car show, held in
conjunction with the Parade Concours d'Elegance and historic car display at the scenic Hotel Hershey Golf
Course. The 2005 Parade already has commitments from 70 historic cars for the display, and we anticipate a
tremendous representation of significant concours cars for the formal judging. The car show, however, is
totally low key, featuring a tongue-in-cheek people's choice voting for a unique set of awards. No
judges, no q-tips, just fun. From the early Porsche tractors to the latest 997, we'll have everyone
represented. Just drive your car onto the fairway, park with other owners who drive the same car you do,
and then sit on your lawn chair and enjoy the ambiance. No pressure-just lots of Porsches, music,
and beautiful scenery. For details on the Car Show, contact Phil Doty at
phdoty@aol.com or John Straub

The
"Parade of Porsches," Porsche Parade, Hershey, PA June 2005
This
event is a parade of Porsche vehicles from a beginning "staging area"
in parking lot designated "M" behind "Hershey Park Stadium."
The drive will pass many Hershey Park rides including the rollercoasters, the
zoo, and the original Hershey Chocolate Factory to Chocolate Avenue, the main
street, which is lined with the famous "Hershey Kiss" shaped street
lights. They are alternately designed as wrapped in foil style, to the unwrapped
chocolate colored "ready to eat" style street lite canopies. The route
will continue past the Reese's Candy factory, home of "Reese's Peanut
butter
Cups," and "Reese's Pieces," and the Hershey Lodge, headquarters
of the 2005 Parade, and temporary home of many attendees! Continuing on, the
"Parade of Porsches" will process down "Hershey Park Drive"
the main entrance to the Hershey Park and all of the attractions, as well as the
venue for many of the "2005 Parade" events...the swap, the autocross
and others. The "Parade" will end at the Antique Automobile Club of
America Museum, a short distance away, where all pre-registered attendees will
be host to a special "after hours" Porsche Club of America tour of the
museum, and special display of Porsche automobiles on the grounds. Parking will
be available at the Museum.
The
"Parade" will be guided through the route by Derry Township Police,
and local Central Pennsylvania Porsche Club volunteers. Hershey Companies staff
will arrange for publication and announcements to local car clubs, groups and
newspapers, etc., through their marketing offices to assure that we will
"see and be seen."
